hi all

i own polo 6n1 1.4 16v 1996 74kw AFH engine... recently i replace the timing belt in one local garage and my car since start shaking little bit i got smell of gasoline after 2 min working... power lose from time to time and when engine is on operating temp car shuts off...went back in the garage ask them what seems to be the problem their reply was my distributor gone bad... so i replace that and coolant temp sensor also to be on the safe side but nothing changed. went in other garage and they told me my timing belt was not replaced and also that my two camshaft pulleys got 4 tooth difference ...one is the right mark position while the other is 4 tooths away. How bad could this be? i never heard clicking knocking sounds only engine shakes little bit. Anyone got same or similar prob?
