after a couple of months of inactivity, i started work on the caddy again.
Still derusting and smoothing the engine bay, so nothing interesting to see there. I did try to fit the westy grill though, and holy shit that thing is big compared to a euro front! I do like the look of it with the steel bumper on a caddy though Last edited by Marcski : 02-11-2012 at 11:28. |

bought some new Hella H4's for the westy grill;
and installed an early dash last weekend. Still need to sort out the wiring, but that had to be done anyway, the interior loom already was a mess. before (but with mk2 gauges): now: Last edited by Marcski : 02-11-2012 at 11:30. |

Shortened and cleaned up the intake manifold and throttle bodies today, so that the throttles are as close to the intake valves as possible for fast throttle reaction, but still enough room for the injector rail.
Total length is still 290mm though, and according to various sources on the internet the minimum length should be 300mm. I ordered 4 velocity stacks though, so those will add to the length and therefore add some some low end torque for drivability. Not yet in the picture, but fortunately bending the tabs on the throttles was enough to account for the wider offset Last edited by Marcski : 02-11-2012 at 11:31. |

enginebay in primer (lots of dustspecs because i can only a brush (no compressor) in my dusty garage, and it's still supposed to be a low budget build and i can sand them out. Hate sanding though )
had all the engine bolts zinc plated, really pleased with that! head came back from port and polish, so i put the block back together. Looks great with the vht wrinkle i'll take some better pictures when i finish the enginebay and have assembled the rest of the motor Last edited by Marcski : 02-11-2012 at 11:46. |
