Well, my buddy just had to have the '56, so I sold it to him, without the engine of course. So I was looking around and found this setting in a guys backyard. It was a cover car for Hot VW's back in the 90's
And of course it just had to have the big engine put into it So this my current VW -- -- Doing some fine tuning to it to really make it mine -- need to change the EFI from Electromotive to AEM -- stuff like that but it slowly coming around to being a nice little street car Last edited by Fiatdude : 12-09-2013 at 05:49. |

thank you -- I appreciate the nice comments
Currently doing a freshen up of the engine -- chasing some valve train issues -- and finally, just now, starting to get all the new parts in from Pauter, Autocraft and others to continue the rebuild -- -- The guy doing the boring on my cylinders is a old (72) biker dude and I've had to wait for him to get back from the Sturgis rally, then recover from the hard partying, now I'm just waiting for him to decide to get back to work LOL I've spent the last couple of days finalizing the placement of the innercooler system, and some changes to the placement and way my fuel lines were orginally installed so I can get the car certified to run at the WOS (World of Speed) up on the salt flats in Utah. This whole who is who thread needs a 2014 update -- So here is one LOL -- Took the Ghia out to Donut Derelics (car show) in Huntington Beach CA the first Saturday of 2014-- -- as I was leaving my right foot became so HEAVY I just couldn't hold it up anymore and unfortunately it was over the throttle, just as I was letting out the clutch with the left foot and about then the turbo spooled up and then .. .. .. and then .. .. .. well, let's say, the Ghia was headed north and the Porsche trans decided to head south .. .. .. Damn the luck LOL --
So the car is in the garage waiting for some more money to be thrown at it... |

Drag Day -- -- March 16th 2014 -- Irwindale CA
Man ---- What a great Day at the track (temps in the 90's)-- Meant to take some pictures,,,,but .. ... LOL -- Thanks to Vince for babysitting me and my stuff at the Swap meet -- But I was bouncing around like a 2 year old on a sugar rush -- There was a TON of people there today -- The swap meet was 5 times bigger than last year -- Got there over a hour before the gates opened and the line snaked through the parking lot and out and DOWN the street -- Got to walk the track with Schweenie (Jon Schweers owner of the ProMod Notchback) and his kid first thing,, got to hear all the latest rumours and gossip -- Helped unload a few cars and harass a few powder puff contestants,, they were giving as good as they were getting LOL -- -- Mike Lawless's Blue Ghia was hauling the mail today, just a beautiful thing to watch it make a pass, Gave BIG RED (Mark Lawless, who went red at the March Meet by almost a second LOL) some abuse and then congratulated him on going rounds at Bakersfield, Congrats Mike on winning -- Tony Klink's car (Super Street) was just violent when leaving the line today,,, Walked up and introduced myself to Tony and his crew --- What a nice, great group of guys -- Nice win Tony -- Heard a rumour the Pat McDermitt has or will soon fire the ProMod Fiat 850 and should be at the track soon -- Johnny Leso (Engine builder extrodinar) was everywhere -- Frank the Bank (Owner of the Executioner ProMod) was getting fired up watching all the goings on -- Dom (Dominic Luppino, Bugpac) the birthday boy was running around But by 3pm I was a crispy fired critter and had hit the wall..... It was 90* there today, and I had to pull the plug and go home -- I'm so sunburnt, it is gonna hurt tomorrow.... Thanks to everyone for making it a great day -- Man I've got to get that new trans in my Ghia -- If you weren't there you were probably frezing your rear off somewhere |
