help want a transplant cant decide whats best
i have a mk2 8v, its been resprayed silver polybushes interior is mint the only one thing im not happy with is the lack of speed. i want an engine that can give 170+bhp with a few mods i.e rebore,cams,ported/polished head. i will be doin/attemting to change the engine myself, so im thinkin a 1.8t might be a bit to much to take on. so thinkin maybe a tuned mk2 16v engine or an abf but not sure these can give me the power i want. i want 0-60 in high 6secs idealy. i cant find any reference to the amount of power a mk2 needs to get that kinda speed as no one seems to talk about it. i dont want to spend the time and money on the engine and not have the result i want. can anyone give me some advice on this? and which engine is best for a brave but novice diy mechanic to attemp lol.

Most standard ABF engines have 170hp when in good condition...G60 not an option?

do they i thought they were 150?thats ideal if they are 170, do you know which car would be best as a donor for an abf? think trying to find a g60 that didnt need a rebuild on the supercharger would be a mission. |

factory spec was 150 din hp, but most have been proven to generate more, even stock and 150.000 miles old.
golf 3 16v's can be found easily, because they rust harder than the engine wears out. Passat 16v's can be food cheap in good condition too. 20vt swaps aren't that hard anymore, every custom part you need can be bought nowadays |
