well, Dutchy sent me this way to post my caddy on here. Hope you all like it!
The goal was to get a low (numerically) offset wide wheel on the back of the caddy, and lower it without losing suspension travel. Keeping travel was important as I still use this as a hauler, and it also allowed me to keep the airshocks as well.
The excellent welding was done by my buddy Terry (airNwater). We hacked off the existing stub axle plates, narrowed the beam by 2.5" on each side, and welded VWJerm's lowering plates on with extra gussets.
While that was in process, I refinished and hand polished six Fuchs, two 15x6, two 15x7, and two 15x8. I can actually fit 15x9s in the rear, but I won't do that unless I can figure out how to get the 15x7s up front without a ton of poke. The 15x7s would fit well with factory flares, but I like the cleaner, no flare look, so the 15x6s are on right now.
Next steps are new windshield seal with chrome trim, chrome the front euro bumper, and chop up the chrome rear euro bumper I have to fit on the back. I also have to decide on whether to go small duckbill and whether to keep the LX badges on the back.
*disclaimer, I suck at taking pics*
ok, on to the pics, note the early chrome front sidemarkers:
