Blijkt dus onderhuids volledig een porsche 356 te zijn

Known as ‘Mouse’, this ’62 Beetle was built by Jack Griffin, ex-Le Mans Porsche driver using Porsche 356 running gear.

Starting with an original, unmolested ’62 Beetle ragtop (original) finished in Anthracite Grey with Brick Red interior, he had Mayo Performance of Texas fit the 1960 356 engine. 356 front and rear brakes all rebuilt with new cylinders with stainless steel sleeves. Lemritz wheels; standard 4.5×15 at the front and widened to 6×15 at the rear with new Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tyres.

Dropped spindles, NOS front beam with adjusters, NOS king and link pins. New steering box, all new bushes, uprated front anti-roll bar and front beam supports. New Koni dampers and a new Optima 6v battery. And a new ‘Prostreet’ gearbox with 4.125:1 differential, heavy-duty sideplate, welded gears (3.78:1 1st and 0.89:1 4th).

Mouse is loaded with rare period accessories including Akkor pull-out picnic radio, Kamei sill protectors, Kamei parcel shelf, rear blind, 6-volt rev-counter, oil pressure, oil temperature and ammeter gauges. Empi Eliminator gauges, 14” steering wheel and rear camber compensator.

Subject to an $8000 repaint in recent years and the shell is totally rust-free and would appear to be totally unwelded from new. Huge folder of history, bills for new parts and information pertinent to the conversion.

An extremely subtle, well-sorted driver’s car that is capable of surprising many a sports car. A unique and highly desirable car that is in absolutely immaculate condition throughout.
