Jamie Oliver's Splitbus used for italian job

Jamie Oliver own's a splitscreen camper and is now in italy with it as he's making a new TV sersies. he's towning a trailer hich is made of the back half of a baywindow, now converted into a kitchen.

Luke from Terry's Beetle Service (London) he's prepped the van for him and jamie has called him a few times already from italy. some text Luke has posted on the volkszone forum:

Got in at 8pm. Made myself a couple of burgers. As I put a tooth print in the bun and my mobile rang. Jamie & his gang have got as far as Genova ( about 1200 miles). His only problem is a slight oil leak from where the cooling fan sits on the case, but earlier today he reported that the oil level in the ' silver box' was low so he filled it up to the top. The box is in fact the oil catch can for his breather system and the clear tube shows when the can is full so that you can empty it. Jamie thought it was an indicator to show him the oil level in the engine and duly filled it up.

Next step is to get the boat to Sicilly.

The trailer hes towing has been made out of the rear end of a late Bay ( from the rear edge of the sliding door backwards) and it is about 3ft high. It has a large two burner stove at the front end, cooker at the front end and a Carribean barbecue tucked away in the engine bay. The whole top of the trailer cooker is covered with a two inch wooden slab / cutting / preparation / shagging board.

PS Jamie knows we are following his tour and he wants me to arrange for him to cook for some VW owners at a gathering out there.

I feel chuffed to be involved with his tour. If you would like me to update his movements (except bowel ) I will do so, otherwise I'll keep it shut. Night ,night, Luke.

---

Big Boy phoned Mission Control this morning. Hes had a few very minor problems with his bus but it seems that he has a bigger problem ... its called papa-fukkin-ratzi. They know hes out there and you can be sure that they will do anything they can to upset him. They are like a quality dense bad fart that won't evaporate and I saw what they were like on Sunday. Jamie is a fine, caring, devoted father / husband and what we read in the papers the other day was just a load of crap.

Any way, all is OK and hes searching for a garage to sort out his little oil leak ( beneath the cooling fan).

built by matt 'turbo' keene, (the entire van was built by matt) but this was before he was into turbo's. so it's got 'normal' carbs.

Man, show us some pictures already! I never watch his shows anymore, when I last watched it, he was scooting around on a Vespa! Oh, a link to the TG episode would also be cool!

ploon 19-04-2005 10:39

aparently some people from the VZi forum are invited over for dinner in italy in a few weeks time. so there will definately be some VW content in one of the episodes!!

an update via luke:
Jamie called again late this afternoon and he was really chuffed with himself. He earlier called out the RAC to check out his oil leak. They sent out a garage to sort it out, but they couldn't and yet they still charged the RAC 1000 euros. Jamie got some instructions off me and had a go himself - successfully ! Nice one

some more pics on his moblog:

aparently the first episode of jamies new series was on UK tv last night and after the oil breather incident jamie has luke (from terries beetle services) on the phone and you can hear terry say "no you knob" to jamie :-)
everybody on the uk forums really seamed to like the show and it has a lot of VW content, so i can't wait till it gets broadcasted on dutch tv
