The car above was destined for the crusher. While at Princess auto one day the owner approached me and commented on my Rabbit and asked if I wanted another one. I of course said yes and got his contact info. Several months later I called him and he delivered it to my house. At the time I had just taken a job in another province that required driving to Calgary twice a week to catch a plane. I was looking for a turbo diesel for the mileage. It's a factory turbo diesel originally with an automatic transmission.
The whole side had been caved in when the previous owner put it through a fence post. Also the engine had been run out of coolant. Although it never seized or stalled it was shut off and wouldn't run due to low compression. I built a new 1.6 TD for it and put in an ACN 020 gear box. Some metal work and panel changes. Quick and dirty paint job and now it's my fun car.
This year I added an intercooler and a boost controller. I also have an external oil cooler for it.
