Brazilian Finest #01

Hello budies

Look at this stuff, and see how crazy are this brazilian guys...

In Brazil, EA827 engine is like a myth, if you put 10 brazilian aftermarket turbocharged cars, 8 are VW...People here call this engine "AP", this is a sign that vw of brazil used after middle 80's, it means "High Performance", Alta Performance in portuguese...

It's difficult to find good used older models (square ones), cuz many of them was turbochaged, lowered and with potholes everywere, the central tunnel is a high-stress area and it's cracks easy with powerful engines, etc. If you find a good one, be prepared, it's gonna be a little expensive to buy.

Look at this stuff, and see how crazy are this guys...

Wow, nice cars with great setups! I go to Brasil a lot and you guys take cars very seriously!

Damn good taste to! No need to make a car look like it could fly,.. just make it fly.
Didn't know the GOL III had a longitudinal engine... in such a 'small-based' car!

I say..

The Euro-NCAP crash-test-regulations probably make VW change it in the new passat to transverse..

It is based on the Gol I/II chassis, which in turn is based on the B1 Passat/80 chassis from 1973. That's why the engine is installed longitudinal.

There are two types of chassis:

Gol I - BX (code used by VW of Brasil)
Gol II, III, IV - AB9

But um the reestyling called in Brasil "Third Generation" there are some structural modifications on the welding of chassis, making more stronger structural rigidity...

And guys, I can see you all like VW Gol, so i'll make a translation of one gol article to put in VolksPage, with more details than those topics that i put here...hope you like too...

I recently sold my Gol, to buy a Santana 2 liter.

I miss so much my Gol, it´s wonderful car to drive, the car fits like a glove for those who likes to drive. You can trust in car reactions, very easy and safe to play beyond limits.

In 2008 or 2009, VWB (VW from Brasil) will launch a entirely new Gol, based on Polo Pq-24 platform, so we gonna loss the spirit of that wonderful longitudinal mounted engine.

This new Gol will problably much better and improved, but, VWB, gonna put on trash all the soul of the car.

We gonna really miss this wonderful car.
