Where can one get new stone guards?
As simple as the topic says, where can one buy new stone guards for the Golf 1? You know, the small ones on the rear fenders.
|
here in the Netherlands we can buy them at the volkswagen dealer...
|
I checked the parts catalogue right before I posted this, and it says that they are "dropped, without replacement"
|
Maybe it's worth comparing the Golf 1 items with Polo 2 items, as Golf part numbers are:
171 853 931 & 171 853 932 and Polo stone guards are: 867 853 931 & 867 853 932 (and still available) May be the last 6 digits make a code for stone guards in general, may be they are the same... |
Believe me if they were the same the part numbers were also the same.
|
Like Jurgen said, if they were the same parts, they would have the same part number. 853 961 is the number for the stone guards, that is correct, but the 171 vs 867 tells that it is either for the Golf 1 or Polo 2. If it were for a Golf 2 then it would be 191, or for a Beetle it would be 113.

Nobody knows of any repro parts? That's strange, seeing that the GTI flares are commonly available.

farout parts has them, $35US that is about 27euros |
Polo 2 parts aren't alike!
Polo 1 won't fit either (and aren't available anywayz), cuz of the different fender |

Great stuff man, I forwarded the link to my friend who wants these and he was thrilled. He ordered them immideately. He's building a Cabrio that will have a show shine and needed these to complete the look. Here's a teaser pic, he's clearly happy with his brand new chrome bumpers :D |
OMG! That bumper is indeed a beauty! But get rid of those taillights! Don't fit the look...
