Sorry do not speak dutch but need your help

I am in the UK I have a beautiful original MK2 GTi... I need a seat back.. the bolster is going on MY Driving side .... Can anyone get me a left hand drive passenger seat back to replace it... all English drivers seats are rubbish now.. Just the back rest is required..Trying to make the car concourse so a totally undamaged passenger seat back would be great.
Hears a picture of the material..and the seat which requires work
thanks
Mark h

schweinhund 17-05-2009 06:58

Same here, sorry I can't help you out with a new seat, but I really like the look of your GTI! Not many are left untouched like this! Maybe you can look for a couple of car recyclers in the Netherlands, and sent them an e mail. Or someone will come forward to help you out.
Best of luck.
Jan :)

damien.wrl 17-05-2009 13:42

Thanks people...your English is spot on, better than some idiots over here.. trying to keep it original...hopefully someone has an old passenger seat... just the back will do if the cloth is ok... Mark H

PeterZ 17-05-2009 14:07

I've stumbled upon this!

It's only a few miles from where I live. If you need my assistance, just ask!

volksfahrer 17-05-2009 14:10

nice car, in showroom condition i guess... can't help you :(

T-bo 17-05-2009 14:32

i have 1 seat in this type of cloth, i don't think it has any damage but it is a bit dirty.
Wat needs to be immaculate: the cloth or the 'plastic' backside of the seat?

Sorry not neccesarily immaculate... I will clean it no problem. obviously an undamaged plastic and cloth combination would be easiest, I am looking for your passenger seat back rest,,, my side bolster cloth is furred up, not yet split..
I will obviouly have to pay for the whole thing to be delivered.. unless the cover can come off...

Mark H

Tjaap 17-05-2009 14:49

the cover CAN come off, pretty easy too.. just a few clips on the bottom that hold them on.

MauSeR35 17-05-2009 15:27

I think you need the cover of a seat from a 5 door car! otherwise there is a hole at the wrong side for the lever..
Nice car though!

I am after your passenger seat side so that I can use it for my driver seat.. the tip forward lever will be ok then.... UK drivers seats are all worn out..

MauSeR35 17-05-2009 16:02

Stupid me. sorry

T-bo 17-05-2009 16:53

I'll check if its a passenger seat that we have standing here, i'm not sure.
If it's a passenger seat i'll get some pictures for you. I don't think taking of the cover will be much hassle.

I'm sorry, once again..can't help you. But if I see something I will be sure to let you know.

You really need to open a thread about your car on this forum, it looks fantastic! Everybody wants to know how you kept/made it like this.. :)

Thanks for that... you all must appreciate how it feels to have a somone like your car......
Open a thread where?
The car is original. 34k miles 55k kilometers. The original owner bought it as it is in 1988 and garaged it with his ten other cars. An old lady bought it 1998 with 10k miles on the clock and abused it until it was rescued in 2008. all I do is keep it in a garage, keep it dry and clean a bit at a time, taking the waxoyl off the wheel arches, innerwings, engine bay etc was the biggest job..I have the original steel wheels but put on the 14" bbs. Hopefully have some bottletop alloys coming soon.
Never seen a golf that the wheel arches wont clean back to factory colour...top tip for you cleaners...

thanks again for your efforts... anyone know any german sites I could try for a seat???? I apologize for being a typical English language speaker.. I could try french but the French dont seem to speak the same french as me...

MauSeR35 19-05-2009 21:12

cleaned.be maby? perhaps I can ask a few local car breakers over here if they have a seat like the one you are looking for. I bought a similar interior a couple of years ago from one, and all seats were in good condition except fot the drivers site ofcourse...

damien.wrl 19-05-2009 21:53

thanks... the seats were almost as common as the rainbow...

T-bo 19-05-2009 23:16

if you are a bit handy i still might be able to help you...
we have 2 seats standing here: 1 driver and 1 passenger side. The driver side is made in the same cloth as yours, of the passenger side the middle is piece is the same type of cloth but in a diffrent colourscheme (grey, blue and yellow in stead of grey red and black). Maybe you can use the outer pieces of the passenger seat and stich in the center piece of the driver seat? I hope you understand what i mean:)

Thank you I think I have spoken with this man.. he wants to sell the whole interior... too much on the shipping I think

MauSeR35 02-06-2009 19:49

If someone visits one of the meetings in the UK and you do also, maybe you can arange something for the shiping? If you buy it and then someone near Geldermalsen can collect it and bring it to the UK if he/she goes there? For instance, E38? Maybe I go there this year again...(not sure)

thanks but I live in the south west, most big meetings are about 4 hours away from me... I will pay for shipping a seat back or even a whole seat.. Possibly someone will take the seat cover off.. hopefully...

damien.wrl 02-08-2009 20:14
