Amish Raga's - GTI 16V from South Africa
Hi guys
So last year i bought this POS i was supposed to make it drive and sell it! That plan didn't go very well! Ended up stripping it down and rebuilding it! If you do something you should do it properly! So i towed her home and realized wat a deep whole i dug for myself! I was saving a dub so it was all good! Since then i've done a few things, the body was in fair condition, the panels which are damaged have been replaced, the bonnet has been replaced with a new oem, the fenders are being trimmed and repainted! The doors are also at the spray shop,i have the shell at home so i can at least carry on with the rest of the building! I have stripped the engine and rebuilt it,i used oversized pistons and a long block sub assembely, the had has a little work, and a set of 268's have been thrown in! Air is fed Via a audi vr throttle body, so the tps can be utilized also! Its has a standalone ecu, running a blend of map and tps. Here are a few pictures i was hoping i could get here up and running this week but its been so busy at work! And its winter here! I still need to fit the fuel pump, neaten up the wiring, and do all the plumbing! I have ordered all the belts and pipes so hopefully i wll have all the parts by the w/end! here are the pictures from day 1! oh my goodness its a bucket hey!  oh no it gets worst look at the interior they used to be vr6 seats! after a little cleaning! its still a bucket! here it is after a few months! Polished a few things in the engine bay and had the seats re trimmed! Also sprayed the valve cover body color but we added a lil gold glitter in the mix! and how it looked last week! Swopped out the jetta front for the raylle front! Now it has no doors and no fender on the passenger side! The dash is also in, and the motor is almost done! I managed to find the bracket i was short of for the p/s pump! i have a few sets of wheels for her! Thers a set of teledials, 928's and a 17" rh replica! But will worry about that closer to the time! also have new plastic trim right around (wheel arches ,side skirts, bumpers)! I can only fit these goodies after the bodywork! So tom is fuel pump day! and Saturday can be belt day! I should be started by Monday! if all goes well....... Anyway hope you guys like it! I want it to look good when its done! Its good practice for my MK II Vr6 build! Thanks for taking the time to view my thread! cheers amish! |
here are a few more pictures, i'm just happy we making progress, been assisted by one
of my friends! We need 1 more water pipe and i need to give the electrics a check! After that we should be ready for start up! Still need an airbox thou! :( I mean compared to how it looked when we pushed it in! Also tested fitted the potential wheels, just to check the rubbing issues! I used a 10mm spacer to correct the offset! ^_^ i can't wait to put this car on the road! Also got the fender back from body shop its such a tease i can't wait after the nitty gritty is done its back in the body shop for all the finishing touches! Here is a small preview of wat i'm building up! Cheers Amish |

With the cabby A better shot of the roof, its suede so it needs to get brushed to look right! Whats wrong with the porka wheels?? cheers Amish |
porsche wheels are played.. they are (imho) by far the least nice wheels you have in you massive collection. Is that your shop in the background? (raga's caraudio)

lol here in my country there are less than 5 cars with Porsche wheels! Yeah its my dads shop, its where i learn't about taking cars apart! |
Who cares if there are loads of people rolling on Porsche wheels ... ?
As long as it fits the car properly I don't see a reason not the fit them! Go for it, nice 16v! |
lol @ misha, yeah i'm keen to see how she looks with the polished 928's, i'm waiting on a friend to bring me the adaptors from the uk, in the mean time i'll probably roll on the phat 5's!
Thanks for the kind words..... |
some of you must have seen my pos project on here, its almost 1 piece, i wanted to get some feed back on how shes
looking  . i tried tidying up the bay a bit, stopped before i got out of control, i still have 2 cars in boxes <_< . this was the first problem, i re routed the wires into the frame rails, so its much better also remover unnessasary stuff cause i'm running efi the valve cover and the "DOHC 16V" are also in red mica and the interior will get some more pics up when the 7 slots are on, might put the phat 5's on still undecided.... Thanks for looking cheers Amish |
perfect,,, apart from painting the lower grill part i wouldn't change a thing..
well take out the beaded seatcovers too.. interior is way too nice for those.. |
Nice solution with the airbox
|

|
have a new picture, i'm still not completely happy with her but i'm working on it!
|
