i hope to have the founds to get the engine build next month. then i will have some proper driveshafts made. engine bay is going to be bead blasted, holes need to be welded shut. then paint in the bay, assemble everything again and have it tuned. still loads of work to be done and unfortunately didnt win the lottery...
|
just a teaser of other stuff going to come... |
new valve cover testfitted, hav a serious brake/rim issiue, seems like i will have to buy new rims.. |
Fitted new brakes? Long time no see Otti.
|
Hi tjaap, how are you? Brakes are not already done, unfortunately i need new rims. The brakes wont fit under no matter what i do :(
|
hi guys
we have Progress! lights work again and electric is almost done! love that shot... pedal Cluster is mounted , we have to trim the kneebar a lit though.. |
Looking good buddy! To be honest i've never been a big fan of your current wheels, classic cars need classic wheels :)
|
hi guys
i went to Berlin to visit my mom for Christmas and since i had the wifeys Station wagon i used that and aquired more needed parts. 72degree C race Thermostat, 2 step fan Switch, small duckbill, front bumper and sun visors (i just wanted them for the White Clips which are unobtanium) if anyone can get me a White sunroof swivel i would appreciate it. you cant get them here anymore.. |
thanks guys
divorce is done, in my car ist 8 bolts and the driveshafts to loosen unclamp 8 connectors and out it goes. finally! as soon as the engine builder is sober again after new years he wants to pic up the engine and all the parts... i hope he does come through |
the engine is now dropped of at the engine builders place.
|
finally!
|
Yes!
|
i waited 2 months now for the block to come back from coating! but in the end the result Counts, noone is ever going to care about how much efford and Grey hairs went into something when ist so sweet.
block is finally coated and assembled head is assembled as well soon my friends the engine will be completed thanks for the nice comments, all that waiting and moneyburning made me doubt myself and the Project in the last time. thanks for keeping my Spirit up  |
Really nice, love it!
|
|
so the brakes are now routed and done, nothing brake related in the engine bay anymore. NOTHING!!
dont worry about the hole where the intercooler piping goes, this is the next step.... metalwork! we changed plans and dump the alloy pipe to the intercooler for a stainless steel one so that we have the possibility to weld that into the frame and add some structural support. i also cant wait to get my hands on her again because as you can see the inner fender was originally white, so much dust collected :puke: |
gearbox is blasted, and ready for paint!
|
Brakes looking great!
|
cheers, for the first time in my build ever something went smoother than expected!
gearbox is back painted, it was so easy i will give you a better price he said! for the first time in 7 years i own this car!!! |
hi guys, new clutch arrived and we put everything together and back into the bay for a final check if everything lines up and fits like we want.
and it does! the new clutch is a sachs performance unit and is supposed to hold 490Nm, i was scared that the old clutch will not be up for the task so i bought new. also we decided to try to run the generator without a tensioner, we ordered 4 differend lenghts an will try! pic for clicks |
i cant wait to see it done!
|
hi pauly
so we will drop the belt tensioner and the generator will be powdercoated white! i think with the red anodized generator wheel and fuelrail+ the red coilpacs this will pop in your face! |
pop in my face like....
:D  |
so we tryed differend belt lenghts and figured 906mm will work without the tensioner
now we can take the genarator apart and let the cleaning/coating/upgrading begin :hurray: |
sweet bro :)
i live through your mk1 build as I am done with the 'scene' here in the USA |
hi guys and happy new year.
not much going on with me visiting my daughter in norway, christmas, new years and january took a lot of money like for most of us. anyway we have at least a little progress, most parts are taken off the car and ready to go to powdercoating, i will go for red on the brake calippers. only thing missing in the pic is the steering rack.... |
Looking good
|
so the parts are back from powder
colour maches the block as well, i was really worried about that... i will go ahead and have some stickers made for the calipers, just unshure which one? they are brembos but i think that is not individual enough?! any ideas? |
|
Looks good Otti like your alternator
|
seems like i cant make it to wörthersee with the car, i kept pushing as hard as i could but noone here in germany seems to want to buy my parts i took of the engine/car so i can either found the tuning or the trip but not boath :( |
Jens, will you be ready for Volksdub this year?
|
i certaintly hope so, i think the drive will just be too long for me to make it. i live right at the polish border. could you please link me a map of the place? i will check out if it is possible to make it there. i will drive, if possible to the see wich is 1200km one way but there i would stay for a week. i dont know if i can justify a drive that far for a weekend. i dont have a trailer so i would have bucket seats if you know what i mean...

hi guys
i am still alive. after splitting up with the woman i came to germany for and having to pay alamony for 2 kids in 2 countrys now you may understand why my isht is moving so slow that even snails overtake with lightspeed. had to move to a single bedroom flat and buy all furniture :bang: today i could cross a thing from the to do list! i wanted them since the bosch ones are really dated in design and performance but them genesis injectors are fresh and much better to tune. i was researching quite a lot and the us scene states they are way better than the rest. a smooth idle and loads of torque is what i want and those seem to be first choice. at 75 euros shiping costs from the usa to germany i had them at my door after only 10days! things left to do -metalwork engine bay -paint engine bay -having some parts carbon layered -unshure if my fuel pump is up to the task?! -tune -mot -beeing ready for wörthersee ´16 not many things but all of them are expensive, i am working 90 hour weeks atm. any interrest in crowdfunding?? |
hi guys
i had vacations and wanted to meet with the man himself chromosexual in europe but unfortunately that didnt work out. instead of sitting at home i decided to take the bus to Bavaria and visit some friends and my flipping car!!! first time in 2 years that i was about to see it! took out the cristal tails and put in the cherry reds, they are only 2 coloured but the pic makes it appear differend i cut of some unneeded outlets of the water and breather pipes and welded them shut we put the custom harness in and i started Scratching, chisseling and rubbing off the bondo used by those idiots who had ruined the engine bay twice before that i cut and fitted the inlays for all the holes in the Firewall not neccessary when suddently this fell out those "professional painters" had sprayed it right over.....seemed to have flown away when they sandblasted the bay after some way to short time i had to leave again, so i decided to clean off the dust a Little and take a goodbye shot... here some shots of Bavaria for no reason but beautyness this pic arrived me today, we had Trouble with the threads in the intake mani and it took some time to have a m26x1.5 tap made... i´ll Report back as soon as there is something to report |
fuck i need to get on that damn seat that you, melli, and hp are on!
dude car is looking great! nice to see you getting shit back on track and fixing old issues and moving forward with new things too! Miss ya bro! |
hi guys, i know ist way too Long ago that i posted something, my Laptop doesnt work anymore
i bought a Garage for 1 euro (!) my Buddy Steven lend me his t4 tdi and i rented a Trailer from the local gas Station. Long way down to Bavaria and iam the only one who has a Drivers license to tow a Trailer that heavy, i needed to do all the trucking we went there to Bavaria where my car is since 3 years but since my Buddy opend up a buiseness wich took off like mad he didnt had the time t finish the car. i was fed up and picked up my stuff. we went to Wörthersee for a day and i drove back to home. |
i drove all together 2300km in those 3 days 1600of that with the Trailer. i was mighty surprised the tdi averaged 7.3l/100km on our way back with the car on the Trailer doing 100km/h with cruise Control.
motivated like mad i started to dissasemble even more... i have a Buddy who is welder he did most of the welding on my car wich was a lot! i was buisy taking care of the sparkel and Gorilla snot, that is shitty work i tell ya more than 100 hours of welding went into the car, more to that later on |
the biggest challenge on the car was that jäger Motorsport in Bavaria routed the piping this way and cut up the Chassis, and they did that with alloy piping. you cant weld alloy to steel so a had to redo the piping in stainless steel tubing
i took out the bulk where the cis usually sits since it is a Detail i hate that People even with the best bays seem to neglect.. |
lots of welding i decided to route the looms along the inner Fender with studs wich we welded on properly needed 5 mmspacers to cear the brake calipers size reference i made some brackets for the wiper assembly and put derust on there |
