Dik project, heerlijke motor!

Men mag hier verder discussiëren:

Leon Cupra R25

Hello, from Sweden. First post on here!

Impressive build, I envy you =) .

I'm actually looking at doing something similar but on my Seat Leon Cupra 1P.

Unfortunately the needed information to complete the transfer is not really documented or official as you may know. I was hoping that you on here could share some of your knowledge. My intentions are to go with the 2.5L CEPA engine and manual gearbox and keep the FWD to start with. Later on I will look into the task of AWD converting.

I've tried to use google translate to understand all the posts in the thread but that was not successful... Hopefully I can get some guidance on my below thoughts.

1. As I understand you need a TTRS/RS3 ECU or can the existing be reused?
2. Reusing the existing engine wire loom is not an option? An engine wire loom from a TTRS/RS3 is needed? What are the acquired adjustments of the loom or simply plug and play?
3. Will VCDS be sufficient for the needed ECU and module coding or do you need VAS
4. How to handle the immobilizer, deactivate it
5. Is the existing oil radiator and fans sufficient or do you need to upgrade to the TTRS/RS3 to avoid overheating
6. How will an aftermarket 2.0 FSI intercooler cope with the heat
7. Is it possible to reuse the front axle shafts or do you need to go with the TTRS/RS3 version due to difference in fitting to the gearbox
8. Adjustments to fuel lines or Plug and play

Any feedback is welcome.

Hello, it is difficult for me to share to mutch information because I had to figur it al out by myself....

1. As I understand you need a TTRS/RS3 ECU or can the existing be reused?
I dont think the seat ecu wil work with 5 cillinder, i use RS ecu no mobiliser.
2. Reusing the existing engine wire loom is not an option? An engine wire loom from a TTRS/RS3 is needed? What are the acquired adjustments of the loom or simply plug and play?
It is possible to modified the original loom but it is a lot of work, i use the rs loom and this is also modified. This is a lot of work but my car runs with no bugs!
3. Will VCDS be sufficient for the needed ECU and module coding or do you need VAS
JDEngineering dit the work on the ecu, i coded everything with vcds
4. How to handle the immobilizer, deactivate it
JDEngineering
5. Is the existing oil radiator and fans sufficient or do you need to upgrade to the TTRS/RS3 to avoid overheating
I use rs fans
6. How will an aftermarket 2.0 FSI intercooler cope with the heat
Go big, i have HGMotorsport intercooler.
7. Is it possible to reuse the front axle shafts or do you need to go with the TTRS/RS3 version due to difference in fitting to the gearbox
you need RS axels
8. Adjustments to fuel lines or Plug and play
Modified, also bigger intank pomp.

Thank you Roy for your input, I appreciate it! I've also received a message from Wilco with some good input. Now I have a better understanding of what is needed in my case to proceed with the project.
By the way Roy, sorry for polluting your thread with my questions

Following will be my set up based on my current knowledge about the transfer. Let me know if there's something else to adjust or add.
  • RS ECU, immobilizer to be deactivated by a tuner
  • RS wire loom, will replace current or be integrated
  • RS Coolent Radiator and fans
  • Already have a big aftermarket 2.0 FSI Intercooler that I will use in the beginning
  • Wilco informed me that the 2.0 FSI manual gearboxes will fit the 2.5 FSI engine. Flywheel will need to be modified as the 2.5 crank has a 8 bolt pattern and the 2.0 FSI has a 6 bolt pattern. My Sachs SMF will be modified and later on when I go ahead and AWD convert I'll change gearbox to something else. Thus I will not need any RS axle shafts to start with
  • RS LPFP and fuel filter, not sure if the fuel filter is different
  • RS engine side mounts. I assume the dogbone engine mount is identical to the RS
  • RS Airbox and piping

Now I have to find a descent price, any advice from anyone? I've seen CEPA engines complete without gearbox at 5500 - 6000€ on Ebay.de and Ebay.pl. Usually they are from crashed cars and advertised at 30000km

I think your car will suite in grey. I used plastidip on my car, cannot recommend it but it looks good.

Verdringer 08-04-2015 06:39

Ja is long time no see.

was zeker mooie tijd.

gr puff

Finally initiated my swap, purchased a TTRS cylinder head from Wilco =)

What is the part number of the cap with the green dot on it?
