I have been working on "KL-EEN 1" today
Almost finished making more room for the driveshafts. I should be able to drop it all the way now ;) I didn`t have any gas left for the welder, so it isn`t 100% finished yet. I need to change the engine-mounts on my new dieselengine. (The engine is from a Golf 2) This is the mount on the TDK-engine: As you can see the mount from the old 1.8 is much shorter: I also startet looking for a place for the InterCooler. But not much space ... |
Some work done tonight.
I have ordered new carpets og door panels from US today. Removed the interior and started the planning of the AirRide installation. Since the theme of my project is CLEAN, I am going to do a hidden AirRide install. After some brainstorming I think I will end up with something like this. I have to wait for my kit to arrive before I make up my mind completly :) With this install I can access all the components behind the backseat. I will install a MDF-wall which will hide all the "stuff" when you look through the rearhatch. |
Taking it to the extreme (kleen/clean) :D. Are u obsessed with cleaning ;) (if yes, please come visit my home, especially the kitchen :D)
Respect! :woowoo: |

Update..
Finally I got the last engine-mount :) 3 (!!!) hours later the mount was out of the old car. It`s not easy to remove this mount with the engine still in the car. :( But I didn´t give up ;) Here you go KL-EEN!! :D Back in the garage I started with my TDK engine. I will use this weekend to clean up and paint my engine. I`ll come back with more updates reagarding this. What`s happening to my airride? IT`S IN EUROPE :D Yesterday it was in Germany. I should have it next week. Weeeeeee!!! :) Quote:

I was talking to UPS today, and they told me that my AirRide will arrive Thursday :)
First up tonight was to check how much I could lower the rear of the car without any modifications. I think this will turn out reeeeal good ;) The engine will get some paint and shine this week. I haven`t desided what color I want on the engine, but I think it will be silver/grey. Stay tuned! :) |
Finally!!! Today the AirRide arrived!!! :) I am looking forward to install this next week.
This kit is modified which means shorter front and rear-struts compared to the standard Golf/Rabbit-kit. ;) Here´s the frontstrut They also made a custom-bracket so I can drop the strut closer to the driveshaft. I think the car will be EXTREME low ;) Just as I like it ..!! So if you check this thread saturday, you can see how low it got ;) |
Than I certainly will!
|
Some more pictures of the AirRide...

Todays update
I finished "tearing up" my dieselengine :) Now it is ready for some cleaning and paint. (Sorry for some out of focus pictures) This is the plans for the engine - Beige engine bay - Completly black engine - Kl-een`ing of the engine bay - Install a hidden InterCooler (in front of the radiator) - Hide all cables etc. |
Painting the engine
Well, todays task was to paint the engine. After some good cleaning the engine was ready for some black paint :) And the result when I left the garage tonight.. back in black |
Postman Pat came today.. all the way from Germany :)
And what did he bring me? Finally!! My new "strut-towers". Some major mods at the garage .. ;) I also got this. :) |
Good work!
|
very nice project keep up the good work!
|
Todays update..
Modifying the strut towers
Tonight I started to modify the strut towers. First I cut 20mm of the old tower. I used a DREMEL tool for best control :) Then I cut the new towers. I cut them 50mm and that gave me 30mm extra drop ;) After some adjustments it was ready for welding. I am doing this tomorrow. So stay tuned folks :) |
cool solution, nice work too....
|
Quote:
Thanks. It is ALOT of work, but the result is  |
Yep, that IS a very smart solution for that extra inch of drop. Never thought of that, good thinking.
|
Todays update..
LOWRIDER!!
Tonights goal was to finish the tower modification and get the ride down on the wheels again... I made it so keep on reading ;) The last tower was removed. Welded some points just to be able to adjust later if something was wrong. This angle shows how high the strut is now. Then I had to install the suspension and the wheels..... LOW!!! "Toit as a tigah" I just had to take the "Lucky Strike shoot". I was not able to get it under ;) |
It has to be sooo precise, or else your car will never be ligned up right...
sooo much respect for this work... :woowoo: |
Quote:
I know. That`s the reason it took me some hours just to cut the towers. ;) Everything is looking just fine so I don`t have to adjust anything. :) I think the mod came out very nice. I got the drop I wanted with it. Now I only have to modify the frontstruts for those last mm drop ;) |
Todays update..
I continued working with my engine tonight. Washed and sandblasted some parts. I also painted my waterpump and dieselpump. You spot the difference? ;) Before: After: |
not afraid of getting paints in parts that you don't want, and messing something up?
|
Quote:
Everything is masked or removed :) |
nice...it will be scraping roadkills when you ride it like that
|
OMG thats sweet :)
|
Nice work. I was reading this treat en was thinking about these ''towers''. Should your bonnet(hood) close nice? I like the wheels and the tires, so clean..
