the standart tuna cans are a little too big in diameter, i used some self glueing foam tape on the inside of the can to make it fit.

poor jens :(
|
yo, since i am so poor!
it was time to do stuff on my own again.... i just couldnt find someone to shorten my driveshaft so i did it myself! first i took the driveshaft out after borrowing the special keys from a buddy got the tools ready cutted the shaft and grinded it down 7mm grinded an angle on it for better welding penetration (angle was a bt steep though) fabbed up a tool to clamp the shaft straght over to the welding table first layer welded, needs to cool down before turning around... i got a pen that melts at 150 degrees used to check temperature before welding again. i used wet cloths to cool the rubber boot, dont cool the shaft down fast-it s gong to be way too hard and will crack like glass i cutted the spot where i tacked t frst up agan and grndet a small v-shape to weld over again. grinded down the jont to check for pores, there have been none i sprayed it again wth rust protect and mounted it on the car |

i am back home and the mk1 was going strong all the way with no issues at all
i had issiues with my azz after 5 hours straight but i solved it by taking the passenger seat cussion on my drivers seat and double up on the azzcomfort :D i had a blast on the weekend and had everyone who helped me building my car driving her on a backroad, i wish i had taken some pics of the smiling faces of everyone  back to the pics the photoshoot the resume of the summer, 1 small fire when the edge of the carbon dash wore down the insulation on a elektric cable , battery has gone bad, my drivers side doorhandle dont want to open anymore due to a adjustment problem (i cant fix it myself my fingers are to fat  )otherwise no mechanical issiues after more than 8000 km´s  we will see when have cash again after my USA vacation to get the engine worked and my aspired 300hp :screwy: |
cant wait to go home & see more pics!!!
|
updates!
i finally got around to drive to my granny´s place last weekend, was relived hen i opened the garage and my car was still there! i popped the hood and took my intake manifold of to test the one i got from aaron(speeding-g60) check out the difference seems like i need to get an adapter... even the fuel rail fits shines up the engine bay quite a bit need some fittings and stuff and i should be good to go... |
news from my project!!!!
everyone who read my thread noticed the manifold i got from ,speeding-g60,in oregon. my tuning shop said that in my regions of boost the tubular manifold will give me a bad idle. work has to be done! the custom manifold had to be revised : marked up! [img] [/img] the flange that was on the manifold was for a mustang gt and not the same bolt cycle as my 1.8t throttle body, so i got a co-worker make me a adapterplate.... i didnt want to have a flat plate on the manifold since it would be to plain/easy.. my welder "kurt" did it´s best to get the best possible result from the pre used and oil inflicted aluminum, the bad ground dintn help either.. the result of half a days work i tryed to polish the manifold but i didnt had the right tools so i ended up with this better than expected but not good enough.i need to get the mani polished. as you can see the diameter is decreased by about 16% which was the guideline of the aircondition engineer that i consulted while planning. sometimes it´s good to work @ a shipyard..... |
nice jens :)
lets get that manifold over here sometime soon ;) |
Just grind the welds down and polish it, and it'll look great!
|
impressive,..
|
looks good

hello everyone!
i went to berlin by plane this tme and took the train to my grandmas place, first time in ages not with a car... mounted everything in the engine bay again and hoped that there is some juice in the battery left to open my doors after 7 months of storage... it was  even better the car started right up again, no problem :D :wow: i didnt expect that at all after this long time and a record winter in germany woot woot i took the car for a spn and the accelleration scared the crap out of me after 7 months in my mk4 2.0/8v :D i drove the car to berlin and took out some cash this is for cleaning up the engine bay and rerouting the cables, mounting the differential and a longer 5th gear. all this is going to be done by a shop, since i need to work for more cash  i hope everything is done on time for when chromosexual is coming to visit europe in may  i took this pic of my car in berlin, updates from the shop comming soon |
cant wait to see this car in person :)
